For us, Valentine’s Day is all about letting your loved ones know how cherished they are; as pet owners, we’re sure you’ll agree the day wouldn’t be complete without fido and felix. So this February 14th, make a memory that will last a lifetime.

Valentine’s Day

Time to share

Start the day in style with a special treat to get those tails ‘a-wagging’. While preparing that celebratory breakfast, make sure to throw in some extra eggs and surprise your furry friend with ‘Eggs Paw’, scrambled egg with a few flakes of tinned salmon added (pink, of course).

Valentine’s Day

For doggy darlings, nothing says ‘I love you’ like giving him the chance to get really wet and muddy! The weather might be on their side, rather than yours, for this at this time of year, so scope out a dog-friendly pub or café you can all walk to for lunch. For an extra special adventure, take a trip on a vintage steam train to reach some beautiful walking country you’ll all enjoy. Dogs are welcome on the following lines: Dartmouth Steam Railway Company, West Somerset Railway, the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, Bluebell Railway (where fido will even get his own ticket) and Llangollen Railway. Just add a tweed collar and you’ll be all set for a family day out – Downton Abbey style.

If you’re set on pushing the boat out this Valentine’s Day, whisk your pooch away on a blissful break to Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons in Oxfordshire, where three of the rooms are now dog-friendly (read more on our pet-friendly pages). The humans can delight with two-Michelin-star dining, while there’s a pamper pack for your little prince’s paws, including a bed and treats. It’s time to relax, put your feet (and paws) up and chill out in sumptuous surroundings, all with your favourite four-legged friend – just watch out for the pup-arazzi!

Felix may prefer to stay at home and catnap, so make him feel like the cat who’s got the cream with his own app! Try Game for Cats which can be downloaded for free and guarantees hours of fun.

An extra something

If you’d like to spoil your pampered pet a little more, then these gifts should get a paws up. This My Sweetie pink heart cat pet ID tag from Chelsea Cats means felix can wear his heart on his sleeve…or collar. For frisky felines, these catnip love heart toys from Freak MEOWt are sure to prove a hit, while this fuchsia leather collar, handcrafted in London, from Linny, will flatter fashionable felines.

Meanwhile, if fido’s jumping up and down with excitement, he can start unwrapping this red bone design blanket from Tall Tails, available at Furzu, perfect for lining beds, travelling or just snuggling up. If your idea of the perfect Valentine’s Day has hygge written all over it, curl up with a glass of red and a movie, then give your pup a taste of the good life with this ultra-comfy bolster bed from Mungo and Maud. The way to most dogs’ hearts is through their stomach; if your faithful friend is no exception, then treat him to a special night in with these Venison Chipolata Sausages from Houndworthy – he’ll love you forever!

And for all you lovers of all things four-pawed out there, we adore Fetch & Follow’s cards.

Love is all around

Don’t forget to spread the love this Valentine’s Day. Pampered pooches and cosseted cats can also paws for thought this February 14th and support less-fortunate four-legged friends, with a donation to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

Have a pawfect day all!
