Blue and green hues, oak panelling and tartan furnishings all help to create an ever present sense of peace and tranquility at this quaint country spot. Artwork by Katharine Lightfoot, featuring many a friendly pooch, adorns the walls throughout the hotel, restaurant and bar.
There is a wonderfully warm, intimate feel to the dog-friendly bar area; start the day by hunkering down into a cosy armchair in front of the open log fire, while you and your dog peruse the morning papers over a coffee and a cake. If you’re in the mood for a heartier meal, the trout is the house speciality; caught in Bibury from the river which flows through the gardens of the hotel, you can’t get more local than this! The fish sharing platter includes smoked Bibury trout alongside Bloody Mary prawns, tuna goujon, and many other sea-based delights. There are plenty of other classic dishes to choose from, with a hint of European influence, including coq au vin with fondant potatoes, alongside juicy burgers and mouth-watering steaks.
Your dog can join you in the bar, lounge or on the beautiful, secluded terrace. A water bowl and treats will be sure to keep your pup happy if you’re visiting after a long walk. The main brasserie at the hotel is not dog-friendly.
A selection of delicious sandwiches are served from midday to 6pm for those in the mood for a lighter bite, with hot food on offer until 4pm during lunch service.
Afternoon tea is served daily from 2.30pm to 6pm, including sumptuous scones with homemade strawberry jam. Be sure to enjoy this on the terrace if the weather allows.
The bar remains dog-friendly until it closes at 11pm, with food served until 9pm.

Bibury is stunningly beautiful, and you’ll be more than happy whiling away an afternoon sitting in the courtyard, listing to the sounds of the Cotswolds’ countryside.
However, we’re sure fido will be nipping at his lead to explore further. There’s plenty of countryside to explore on foot (walking maps are available at reception), and four-legged friends are also welcome at the nearby Bibury Trout Farm. 15 minutes away by car you’ll find the charming market town of Cirencester, and the adjoining Bathurst Estate – a great place for a run around for all.
