Food and Drink

At London House

London House manages to be buzzy and approachable, yet with an air of understated sophistication, that makes this the kind of neighbourhood restaurant that could quickly become your new favourite local.

The comfy brown leather seating in the lounge area is the perfect place to laze over a weekend coffee or glass of bubbly, while the monochrome design in the dining areas serves as a perfect date night spot, or a place to catch up over a long lunch with friends (and dogs, of course!).

The a la carte menu is small but perfectly formed, and with dishes including the likes of crispy pig’s head croquettes, a Malay inspired hake laksa, and doughnuts with white chocolate and lemon curd. All sure to get your tastebuds going! The wine list is a good blend of old and new world, with bespoke cocktails also on offer.

Doggy delights

Fido can join you throughout London House whether at the bar, in the restaurant, or in one of the outside areas. There is a picturesque garden at the back of the venue, inspired by nearby Battersea Park, as well as outdoor seating out the front. Outside seats aren’t bookable, so make sure you arrive early if you want to beat the other dogs to the sun spots!

Ask for a treat for fido when you order your cocktail – there are plenty available behind the bar free of charge so he won’t go hungry while you’re chowing down on your lunch.

By day

The set menu is excellent value and is served from noon to 7pm on weekdays. On weekends, bottomless prosecco keeps the trendy South London clientele happy – available until 5pm on Saturdays, and 9pm on Sundays, with a main.

From dusk

London house stays open until 1am from Thursday to Saturday so is perfect if you’re looking for a late night bite or nightcap. Last bookings are at 11pm.

The extra bits

Children are very welcome, with those under 12 eating free from a children’s menu.

The dog loving Gordon Ramsay Group also offers a collection of dog-friendly dining experiences. Find out more..

Where We Are

LOCAL AREA

Just south-west of Battersea Bridge, London House is tucked away in a lesser known, but extremely charming, village-esque area of the London suburb.

With the venue a short stroll from the river, a walk along Chelsea embankment with fido is a wonderful way to mosey away an hour on a sunny day. London’s Battersea Park is just a 12 minute walk away, and is one of our favourite London parks for our four-legged friends. There are plenty of open spaces where fido can run off the lead, and you’ll meet more than a fellow pooch or two, including some wonderful pups from Battersea Dogs and Cats home out for a stroll.

London House

Rigby's Review - Guest starred by Marcel le Corgi

Le Jardin Secret

On a typically British Summer afternoon, Marcel and I made our way to South West London, thrilled to undertake our very first Rigby Review.

Following an off-lead romp at nearby Battersea Park, we arrived at Battersea Square. The hidden spot near the Thames evokes the feel of an Italian courtyard with its rickety tables and Londoners sipping on drinks and enjoying antipasto. Across the street, London House, part of Gordon Ramsay’s culinary empire, has a prime vantage point.

The outdoors tables and large bay windows at the front are Banksy’s favourite spot. A regular with his owner, the French Bulldog can be seen there almost every day.

Upon entering the spacious indoors dining area, beautifully decorated with dark wood floors and leather furniture, something catches Marcel’s eyes. On a coffee table, a jar filled with biscuits, ceramic bowls and a jug of fresh water await canine visitors. Pooches of all sizes – from chihuahua to great dane – are welcome.

After both being greeted by the manager and waiting staff – not a single one of which missed their chance to pet Marcel’s fuzzy head, we were whisked to the Secret Garden.

With lush foliage abundant, the delightful hideaway covered in wisteria and honeysuckle, is fitted with elegant furniture and lights. For a corgi is to be treated like royalty, we were shown through the enchanted blue doors and seated in the semi-private dining area. A bowl of water was presented to Marcel and his doggy dining guest within seconds of us taking our seat, once more accompanied by a pat and tickle behind the ears.

Open until September 30th 2017, the new outdoor seating space is the perfect place to enjoy al-fresco cocktails and a meal. Inspired by the garden, the à la carte Summer menu is as colourful as mouth watering, featuring British ingredients and classics. Fortunately for us it was a rather crisp day, leaving us athirst and able to indulge in an assortment of the many choices on offer. Sipping on lemonade and English rosé, we opted for the soup of the day (a refreshing gazpacho) and Isle of Wight tomatoes with basil and Yorkshire Wensleydale. Mains were generous in size and cooked to perfection – a Chicken kiev with truffle butter, mash and pickled mushroom, and a Rose Country rump steak, garden peas on the side.

Gardens need rain and shine to thrive, and so as the skies opened on us we took refuge in the covered area, finishing our lunch whilst the dogs went back to snoozing – it is exhausting to be so cute! Coffee and desserts (a heavenly selection of Cambridge burnt cream, sticky toffee pudding, chocolate brownie, ice cream and berries) were served with a confession – our lovely waitress, asking if she could pat the dogs once more. She particularly loves working at London House for she can indulge in puppy love – wonderful!.

With a relaxed atmosphere, wonderful Modern British cuisine and bewitching decor, the only dull element of our visit to the brasserie was the weather.

London House in Battersea made the family and our doodle, Bella, feel very welcome. So nice to go to a good restaurant and not have to worry about leaving the dog at home. She was a little sad that I enjoyed the rump steak so much that she didn’t get much of a look in!
