We arrived at Market Halls Fulham on a cold, wet winters evening destined more for a night in with Netflix than braving the blustery weather outside. All grumbles were however soon forgotten with the warm and bubbly welcome we found awaiting us.
As soon as we were through the doors of this lovingly restored former train station, Rigby’s nose shot up, sniffing in his surrounds, suddenly intrigued at what delights might lie in store.
With enticing foodie outlets encircling the dining area at their midst, we decided a peek at all the offerings was a must, in fact, necessary to have any hope of picking from the tasty treats on offer. First, to start the proceedings, a cheeky winter warmer from the atmospheric bar occupying the wood panelled former ticket office at the heart of the hall.
With a water bowl soon spotted for Rigby, all our thirsts were quenched as we debated which table to pick amongst the chattering patrons. Next up, to pursue the menu’s on offer…. and where to begin!
With the winters chill still fresh in the mind, hearty, warming dishes were required. Family style was the name of the game, with us both keen to try a range of the vendor’s dishes, and from the nose prodding, Rigby it seemed was keen to be included in this too! Not alone in his thoughts, there was a constant stream of people popping in to pick-up a bite to eat or enjoy a casual meal, with many a hand ready to great our four-legged reviewer.
Choices made, first up was Super Taco’s selection – with a healthy kick throughout, from the Pork Abodala to the Steak Asada with its roasted jalapeño’s, all accompanied by a rather tasty rice side. Next up, Fanny’s Lazy Lamb Kebab, one of the healthiest tasting kebabs on the foodie block. Then our highlight for the night, Made of Dough’s speciality sausage pizza, which really made a splash with our resident pizza aficionado naming it the best pizza base they’d had in years. Last but not least, dessert, with just a little room to spare, Ahi Poké’s fruity chai pudding hit the spot.
All that was left was to brave the wintery chill once more, though well fuelled this was little hardship as we set-off home.
With its welcoming attitude to all, little, large and furry will feel at ease and find a tempting foodie delight in vibrant Market Halls, which brings a little bit of Shoreditch cool to this west London neighbourhood.
