Effortlessly hip, with modern urban decor throughout, this warehouse-style slumber spot is where the cool kids come to stay. Dog-friendly rooms include comfy king-sized beds, WiFi, Marshall speakers, Chesterfield sofas, marble bathrooms and a mini-bar with a twist.
You and your pup will be warmly welcomed in any of the rooms at The Curtain.
There are plenty of City and Courtyard rooms to choose from, and both feature steam and rain showers. For the sounds and lights of the city buzz, opt for a City room, or to hunker down in your Curtain surrounds, opt for a Courtyard room.
Loft rooms are spacious havens and perfect for entertaining if you’re looking to host a private event. The wraparound terraces of the Loft Terrace rooms also feature fabulous city views.
For every more luxury, there are four Shoreditch Suites on offer. Warehouse-style windows create light and airy feature rooms, with freestanding baths adding a little extra indulgence. For the pick of the bunch, opt for the Curtain Suite. With a large bedroom, separate living area, and two bathrooms, there’ll be more than enough space to stretch out those legs and paws.
Your pooch will find a water bowl ready and waiting on arrival.
Flats on, and lead out! London is a walker’s paradise, and the streets of the east offer plenty of eclectic adventures.
The rooftop pool can be enjoyed from 7am to 9.30pm daily, perfect for a paddle, some people-watching, or a more energetic swim. The gym is open 24 hours a day.
Alternatively, take a break from the city and retire to the atmospheric underground spa. Indulge with an expert massage or opt for a manicure from Imarni Nails.
Children are welcome. There are some inter-connecting rooms available, and suites can accommodate up to three guests with an extra bed.
Dog-sitting and dog-walking can be arranged if required – be sure to book in advance.
Head to the rooftop, and you’ll find laid-back Mediterranean food spot LIDO. Open from breakfast to dinner, this all-day brasserie serves up fresh, seasonal fare with spectacular Shoreditch views. Expect favourites such as moules marinieres and steak tartare, and there’s a fabulous wine list to complement your choice of dish. Small dogs are more than welcome to join you until 7pm.
Tienda Roosteria has leaped on board the taco bandwagon. An old-school playlist provides the backdrop to your dining experience, while you enjoy Mexican favourites and Margherita slushies. Small dogs are also welcome here prior to 7pm.
Renowned Harlem restaurant Red Rooster has come to London in The Curtain complex. Serving ‘Southern soul food’, your tastebuds will make you feel like you’ve been transported to the real thing on the other side of the pond. Dogs can’t join you here, so book a dog-sitter to keep an eye on fido if this is the one for you.
Both Tienda and Red Rooster are open late for cocktails, craft beers, or whatever takes your fancy.
Room service is available 24 hours a day, with the menu changing seasonally.
Food can be provided for your pampered pooch – be sure to ask in advance.
For your dog’s morning gander, head to nearby Finsbury Square, a few minutes’ walk to the east.
A stay at The Curtain puts the ever-evolving adventures of the east end of London at your paw-tips. A few stops on the Central line to the east will take you to Victoria Park, 218 acres of fetch space where your dog can roam anywhere he likes, apart from the children’s play areas. Staying over on a Sunday? Take a leisurely stroll back to the hotel via Columbia Road Flower Market, open in the morning until early afternoon, where you’ll find bucketfuls of breathtaking flowers for you to admire, and your dog to have a good sniff at.
For more of an urban walk, stroll through the City to the South Bank and take in many of London’s famous sights, from Tower Bridge to HMS Belfast. If you’re there on Saturday morning, foodie haven Borough Market is well worth a visit, although remember some treats for fido as his mouth will be watering in no time!
If you’re looking for some other nearby dining options, The Culpeper is just up the road – fido is most welcome, and you can enjoy the ever changing pub menu, including dishes made with ingredients from their very own greenhouse on the roof.
