Facilities

At The Scarlet

Amazing spaces draw the eye to the stunning seascape, while a sense of wellbeing flows throughout – with its epicentre at the justifiably renowned spa. Dog-friendly rooms include open plans bathrooms, magnificent views, lots of light, outside areas, flatscreen TVs, WiFi, bottled water and heavenly toiletries.

Pawfect slumbers

You and fido can take your pick of their pet-friendly options, with The Scarlet having paw-picked a room in each of its captivating categories for four-legged friends to enjoy. Book early to make sure you can bag your favourite.

Just Right rooms are just that. Alongside open plan bathrooms, with wet room areas and bath or double monsoon shower, these rooms have sliding glass doors with sea views, which open on to a terrace. Those at ground level allow you to walk straight out to the hotel gardens beyond. Generous rooms offer a bit more room, and like Just Right rooms have open bathrooms to keep you connected with the seascape beyond.

Each named after the Cornish garden that inspires their courtyard, Unique rooms have king size beds, circular showers and large oval baths. Take the spiral stairs to a rooftop sitting room complete with horizon sea views.

Spacious rooms aim to capture the light and have captivating, expansive sea views and large monsoon showers. Indulgent rooms are a treat, with wonderful lounge areas, a large monsoon shower and free-standing baths.

Your dog will adore that each room has access to an outside area, perfect to sit and sniff the sea air. Large cushions are provided, although the hotel recommends also bringing your dog’s bed. Treats and bowls can also be found, and dog sitting and walking arranged. Enquire early to ensure your pup gets their perfect ‘me time’ slot.

Human and hound abound

Your dog will delight in the picturesque hotel gardens overlooking the sea, with many a wild Cornish flower for your pup to sniff out. The hotel just asks that fido stay on a lead while exploring. Stroll down through these gardens, skirted by a fence, and take the gate to the cliff path. With lead firmly on for the couple of minutes walk along this easy to navigate path, you’ll soon be on the all year round dog-friendly beach.

Relax and revive

The world class spa is a must. If spa-ing isn’t your thing, try the cliff top hot tub nestled in the gardens, overlooking the waters below, and ask for a glass of fizz to accompany it – this is what life’s about, and is not to missed, whatever the time of year! Another for spa virgins is the haven of tranquility that is the spa lounge – from here, step out and try the outdoor reed pool. Prefer to keep your toes inside? The Scarlet has an indoor infinity pool with breathtaking bay views – perfect to watch the sun go down.

For spa junkies, The Scarlet is your oyster. Luxury tented treatment rooms are lit by lanterns, with gently swaying sleeping pods and an array of therapeutic Journeys on which you will be guided by you own practitioner, expert in Ayurvedic principals. Remember to book in advance as the spa is very popular.

Yoga is embraced here. Brush up on your asanas with a private session, or join one of the morning classes.

The extra bits

*5 dogs are allowed to stay in the hotel at any time, although the hotel regrets that no dogs on the UK dangerous dog list are able to stay.

Make sure you introduce your hound to hotel dog Jasper. Keep an eye out for him as you relax in one of The Scarlet’s stunning dog-friendly areas, including The Retreat Lounge & Terrace, where you can watch the surfers below with a stunning sea view, the lounge and the reception areas.

Only pooches and adults can stay at The Scarlet. If you’re craving a return visit but this time you have a little one in tow, try their sister hotel, Bedruthan Hotel & Spa.

Where We Are

LOCAL AREA

Relish the beautiful, sandy, Mawgan Porth beach. It’s dog-friendly all year round, and right on your doorstep – perfect for walkies anytime.

Most of the beaches in the area are also dog-friendly with no seasonal ban. Nearby Crantock beach is also a favourite spot amongst local dog-walkers. Just south of Newquay, why not combine with a spot of lunch at Rick Stein’s Fistral.

The coastal path running along North Cornwall also passes through this bay, so it’s hard to get lost as you set off to explore the scenery beyond the bay.

Away from the beach, North Cornwall has an abundance of activities for you and fido to enjoy together. Please see our Dog-Friendly North Cornwall Guide. For inspiration see our dog-friendly Cornwall destination page.

Wonderful relaxing babymoon, just the ticket. All dietary requirements noted and remembered by all the staff we encountered. Lovely early morning dog walks/swims along the beach all without having to get in the car all weekend.
Will definitely be trying out Bedruthan next year with the expanded family.

Wonderful. The Scarlet delivers every time. It’s the most relaxing hotel we have found in England and our dog simply adores having the beach on his doorstep. Our dog was very welcome and we all felt very much at home. The Unique Room is great for dogs. The private garden was a real hit and he loved chilling there.

We love this hotel so calm and relaxing the perfect place to unwind. Great to have the dog-friendly beach on your doorstep to help the pooch unwind too. The spa is fantastic too so make sure you allow time to go when staying here.

Surprised my wife with a trip to The Scarlet for our anniversary and the fact we could take our dog with us was such a bonus, he had a whale of a time running around the garden and on the beach and it was so nice for us to be able to just open the french windows and let him out. We also loved the morning yoga (who knew stretching could be so enjoyable?) and the food was so good. Would definitely recommend.

Wonderful in every sense. So relaxing, the spa is to die for. Our hound loved being able to head straight out with us across the hotel gardens and with the beach a couple of minutes away he was in his element!
