Food and Drink

At Percy & Founders

This Central London brasserie is smart, chic and polished. With wooden features throughout and dashes of yellows and blues, which along with the buzzy chatter of diners from all corners of this expansive venue, result in a casual and relaxed vibe throughout.

The menu is seasonal and modern. Main menu delights include a beetroot-cured sea bream starter, and a Wagyu beef burger with smoked Montgomery cheese and truffle mayo main. There are a number of vegetarian options, as well as steaks from the wood-fired grill. On Sundays, you and fido are in for a real treat – choose from up to four different roast meat options, all served with Yorkshire puddings, glazed market vegetables and duck fat roasties. Delicious!

There are plenty of inviting cocktail and craft beer options, and an extensive wine list including 19 wines by the glass (or carafe), plus bubbly options on top. There are plenty of well-priced bottles if you’re out for a mid-week drink with pooches and friends, and just as many mouth-watering options if you’re in the mood to splash out. Keep an eye out for one of the many orange wines available – one of this year’s hottest vino trends.

Doggy delights

Your dog can join you in the spacious cocktail lounge and bar, as well as the terrace, which is heated and open all year round, and perfect for a spot of Fitzrovian-fido watching. The full menu is available wherever you dine.

By day

This delightful spot opens its doors early during the week, with breakfast available until 11.30am every weekday, evolving into an extended brunch menu at weekends. Snack on some crisp toasted crumpets, or treat yourself to some chorizo & cherry tomato baked eggs.

From dusk

From Monday to Wednesday, happy hour runs from 3.30pm to 6.30pm, with many drinks half price in the bar.

The extra bits

Children’s portion sizes are available should you be dining with little ones.

Bookings for the terrace are taken at any time (if the weather permits). Tables in the bar and lounge are bookable when dining for breakfast and lunch Monday – Friday, and for breakfast only at weekends. If it’s dinner or a weekend lunch you’re after, just rock up and grab a pooch-friendly pew.

Rigby's Review

Cosmopolitan cheer

With thoughts of starting the weekend early, we all set off, a skip in Rigby’s step, thinking of our lunch stop ahead. As we strolled through Fitzrovia, stomach’s grumbling, we spotted the welcoming lights of our destination, Percy & Founders. Skirting the edge of a swanky new development, the light-festooned terrace was a welcome site and Rigby made short work of making sure all corners were fully sniffed out. Sniff inspection completed, we persuaded Rigby to step inside where the smiling host awaited.

Swiftly shown to our table in the front of the dog-friendly bar area, Rigby greedily gulped from his speedily delivered water while we settled in. Bubbly hubbub filled the air from the mix of urbanites ensconced in the fashionable surrounds, from office workers to groups of friends, everyone keen to relax and get a taste of the weekend to come. With Rigby settled at our feet, we took in Percy & Founders’ contemporary chic inside. Bang on trend, from its parquet floors to its eclectic artwork, not to mention our favourite part, the giant doggy portraits.

Drinks ordered, we took our time to peruse the modern European bistro style menu. With thoughts of fish on Friday’s, the goujons with home-made tartare sauce, peas and skin-on-fries were calling me, while my dining companion opted for the courgette and quinoa burger, with a token green salad to share on the side, just to make ourselves feel that bit more virtuous!

Tipple’s were soon in hand, promptly delivered by our pooch loving waiter who was delighted to find Rigby in tow, and with whom stories of our childhood furry-friends were eagerly exchanged. Nose at the ready Rigby stood to attention as our bread, accompanied by a whole roasted garlic was delivered and soon shared around before our main courses arrived. Just what the doctor ordered, the simplicity of our well cooked, tempting choices was perfect for a Friday treat, from my delightfully flaky fish goujons, made from chunky fish fillets to my dining companions light and spicy veggie burger.

Plates clean we put the world to rights, buying time to make room for dessert. A favourite of mine, I could not resist the apple and blackberry crumble with vanilla custard, which I was pleased to find was tangy and filled with fruit, not overly sweet as is so often the case. The vanilla cheesecake with caramel and plum compote was also a delight and aptly described by my companion as utterly delicious – say no more!

Never one to fail to charm, Rigby was still contented with many a ruffle of the ears from passers-by. We decided a coffee was required to drag us out of our sleepy state and prepare us once more to again embrace the streets of London. Assured the creamy cappuccinos were not to be missed, they were soon in hand, reviving us just before a bump or two from Rigby indicated he was ready once more to explore.

With a warm farewell, we headed out again, a stroll down Regent’s Street to Green Park beckoning us.

In a bustling area of central London, this smart, buzzy bistro is an enticing spot to relax with your four-legged friend and hip enough to attract the coolest of canines.
