Hidden away over the headland on the outskirts of Newquay, Rick Stein has brought a unique concept to beautiful and iconic dog-friendly Fistral Beach, and to these north Cornish shores. Fistral offers a delectable selection of jazzed-up British takeaway favourites, with fish & chips and a range of Asian fare the stars of the show. Your tastebuds will thank you as you grab a table in the casual and laid back venue, and daydream to the sound of the surf-perfect waves, with fido by your side.

Reservations are not taken, so just mosey down and pick a seat.

Food and Drink

At Rick Stein Fistral

The atmosphere is relaxed with a little added beach chic, with seating available inside, or on outside benches.

Don’t let that make you underestimate the quality of the food. Fish comes battered or grilled and there are 10 varieties to choose from, with the beef-dripping chips a perfect accompaniment, along with sumptuous homemade tartare sauce. The Curry Kitchen features dishes inspired by Rick Stein’s travels – treat yourself to a mouth-watering mussel masala, a creamy goan chicken curry or a classic Malaysian beef rendang.

Fistral doesn’t take bookings – just order at the counter and find yourself a table with a view.

Doggy delights

Fido can dine with you inside or out, although you might struggle to keep his paws off your fish & chips, so tire him out with a run around Fistral beach before you tuck in.

By day

If you’ve made an early start, grab a bacon roll or traditional nasi goreng to kick-start your day. Family-friendly, there are both smaller fish & chips and curry options available for little ones.

From dusk

Food is served until 8pm Mondays to Saturdays, so you and your dog can grab an early dinner at the end of a long day on the beach.

The extra bits

Keep an eye out for ‘Fistral sessions’ – from Spring, the first Friday of the month sees live music sessions at Fistral from 7pm to 9pm. Food serving hours are extended so you can enjoy your palate-pleasing Pad Thai while watching the sun set over the blissful Cornish shores.

Want to take away and sit in the sand with man’s best friend? Phone ahead to order and it’ll be ready to collect when you arrive.

Where We Are

Located on the magnificent Fistral Beach, fido has a coastal playground right at his paw tips – and it’s dog-friendly all year round. Famed for its waves, a number of international surfing events are held here, so if your pooch is a fan of a paddle he’ll have more than a few wet-suited friends to keep an eye on.

Away from the beach, North Cornwall has an abundance of activities for you and fido to enjoy together. For inspiration see our dog-friendly Cornwall destination page.

Address: Rick Stein Fistral, Fistral Beach, Headland Road, Newquay, TR7 1HY

Hit the road

Fistral Beach is a 2.5 mile drive towards the coast from where the A3075 joins the A392. A pay and display car park is located next to the venue. In the winter months, it is free to park for up to an hour, and £3 for a full day, with free parking after 6.30pm. Prices increase during the busier summer period.

All aboard

For those arriving from further afield for a day at the beach, Newquay station is a 20-25 minute walk away, though services are fairly infrequent, so you’d be better arriving by road.

Sublime fish and chips, the way only Rick Stein seems able to do. The interior is a cut above the usual casual beach restaurant and they were very welcoming to our pup. Lovely!
