Ruby’s isn’t just any bar. This cosy hideaway just off the main harbour front in Padstow, Cornwall has all the innovative thinking, and stylish-yet-welcoming decor, that epitomises the Rick Stein group. Dogs aren’t just welcome here, they’re encouraged. Step through the door and you will be taken back in time; enjoy the wood panelling, roaring fires and very well stocked bar, filled with cleverly incorporated, seaside-inspired objet d’art.

Reservations are not taken, so just head in and pick your spot. Perfectly petite, Ruby’s might be busy in high season, but it’s worth the wait.

The low down

With book case designs lining the walls, and shades of teals and greens deployed with an expert hand, Ruby’s Bar has a touch of speakeasy character – but with style and quality always present.

This is a bar where wonderful ingredients are combined to make innovative cocktails – be sure to try the signature Ruby’s Fizz – while there are gins galore, and craft beers enough for any taste.

A roaring fireplace will welcome you in cooler climes, and wooden banquets and stools come with comfy cushions.

Ruby’s does not serve food, so if out for the evening you might choose to combine with a trip to Rick Stein’s Cafe or St. Petroc’s Bistro (which you can enter direct from Ruby’s) – just remember to book in advance to be sure of getting a space in the intimate dog-friendly dining area.

Where We Are

Earn your drink with a walk around Padstow beforehand and enjoy the stunning views across the Camel Estuary to Rock.

Take a stroll around the harbour before heading north along the coastal path, where fantastic scenery awaits as you make your way to all year round dog-friendly Harbour Cove and Hawkers Cove. Or, should your pooch fancy himself as an old sea-dog, you can take the 10 minute jaunt together from Padstow to charming town Rock on the Black Tor ferry. For inspiration see our dog-friendly Cornwall destination page.

Address: Ruby’s Bar, 18 Broad St, Padstow, PL28 8EA
