This neighbourhood eatery, filled with many a Chelsea socialite, is a place to see and be seen, and yet retains an enticing, relaxed vibe. Tucked away amongst the townhouses of London’s SW3, dog-friendly The Phene is a perfect spot for you and your dog to combine with a walk in nearby Battersea Park. Take your pick from the relaxed gastropub frontage, with its adjoining leaf-lined garden, or the restaurant area for a little less hustle and bustle.

Food and Drink

At The Phene

This vibrant, contemporary eatery, with a touch of private members’ club about it, has a relaxed gastropub as well as colourful restaurant area, complete with glam-crowd clientele.

Focusing on seasonal menus, with regionally sourced produce, The Phene ensures it has options for meat eaters, vegans, vegetarians and celiacs alike. International influences, from across Europe and into North Africa, are apparent, with tempting sharing platters and mezze boards.

Doggy delights

Dogs are welcome throughout and there is a good-sized, covered garden with heaters and plenty of seating. Pooches will enjoy the green surrounds post-walk, or head for a promenade down the Kings Road. Bowls and treats are also on offer to stave off the munchies.

By day

Weekends bring the chance to indulge with the breakfast menu that includes treats such as spiced banana French toast, accompanied with maple-glazed smoked bacon, chilli labneh & tamarind caramel, as well as plenty of egg-based classics. Fancy a lie-in? Then join a little later for weekend brunch, where a selection of breakfast favourites are served, along with heartier mains.

From dusk

This upscale gastropub area has a bustling, bubbly ambience as the sun sets – perfect for a summer evening in the garden. With over over 30 wines by the glass, and a good selection of craft beers, including locally brewed ales, it’s a perfect spot for a post-work drink.

Should a little more refinement be desired, head further inside and enjoy the restaurant area, where humans and hounds can relax and enjoy a good meal with friends. Think pan-fried seabass with minted purple potato, asparagus and carrot puree. No room for pudding – perhaps just a liquid dessert? Try the Slippin’ Jimmy.

The extra bits

Bookings are taken inside only.

There are two private rooms available at The Phene. Set menus are used for events with more than 14 guests.

A children’s menu is also on offer. Children are welcome at the venue, but only until 8pm in the main bar.
